Last week I had the privilege of taking some pictures for my friend’s newest baby. This is number four for her. But you would never know by looking at her! She’s the kind of girl that loses all the baby weight the moment she gives birth and has freshly baked (delicious I might add) muffins when you arrive to take pictures. How do you do it Erin!? Tell us your secret Erin thank you for your friendship and thank you for how you inspire me on my own journey of motherhood.

This little girl was born to be a mother. You should see the way she holds and soothes her sister. It is quite impressive!

“N” Family Session

I always get excited when asked to photography families with little ones. Especially the 2-4 yr range. Sounds crazy huh? Do I get a little nervous? Well yes, they can be a bit unpredictable…. but oh so much fun! I never know what I’m going to get going into a session with toddlers but I have yet to walk away disappointed from the results. I was looking forward to this session with not one but two toddlers. I believe this is their first set of family photo’s as a family of four. What a honor to be the one behind the camera!

Here are a few of my favorites from the day…
What keeps these two sitting still for a moment…. singing! They love to sing!!

2011 Favorite Face

When I have extra time, which feels like never these days, I enjoy entering I heart faces challenges and see what other work photographers are putting out. It’s so inspiring! So this week’s contest is best face of 2011. I know it’s potentially biast to post a photo of my own child. But I thought since I just showed you all my favorites from my clients this past year I would show you a fav from my own family.

I love this girly. This is how I will remember most when I look back at her first year of life. A teethy, scrunched up nose grin.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all my 2011 clients! Over 26 of you that make up maternity, newborn, family, extended families sessions and one wedding. This has been an amazing year for Tara d photography. The most successful year to date. Thank you all for entrusting your moments, little faces and families to me. It has truly been my joy!

Ostafin Family

Driving out to meet up with this family it was pouring rain and the sun was nowhere in sight. It didn’t look good. Rain or shine this session was going to happen. This is the last time they will all be in one state for awhile. Forget state, together in one country, for awhile. One set of this family is moving back to Europe! Thankfully God answered my prayer, as I much prefer shine for pictures then rain, and we only felt a few raindrops towards the end.

I have a feeling this little girl was quite loved on during her stay in AZ over the holidays Ah Auntie Stacey…. I know you are going to miss your brother, sister-in-law, and your precious niece very much. Hopefully these pictures will help some. At least you have these three precious faces to love on I just love these gorgeous, tender-hearted, children!

Perin Family

I met up with the extended Perin family last weekend in Scottsdale. I did family photos for David & Christine and their two boys last fall. I enjoyed getting to meet the rest of the Perin family. Kuhlin Family

I met up with the Kuhlin family on a beautiful golden afternoon! I was wished luck in making them all look good before we began I didn’t need luck at all. I love all the laughs and giggles, these blue eyed blondies gave me.

This little one wasn’t all that keen on smiling. But in the end we got some pretty awesome smiles out of her!

The Perfect Christmas Card

It’s that time of year. Christmas time! Time to take pictures of our beautiful families, paste them onto christmas cards and send it off to far away relatives and friends. I have had the privilege of helping so many families achieve their goal this year but as most of you know it’s quite hard to get that perfect “christmas card” picture. If you have children 10 and under you know what I’m talking about. Bribes are being thrown out left and right. “JUST SMILE” is shouted in a not so nice tone.

“PLEASE ONE LAST PICTURE?!”

I know. I’ve been there. I was there again tonight as I joined ranks among the many of you in taking pictures of my own children. They are my hardest clients.

“Ok, please put your hands down!”
“No, your REAL smile please!”
“DON’T PULL YOUR SISTER DOWN!”

Ah, such fun I think I got one out of the 400 that will work. Last year I did something a little unconventional. I sent out a “real” christmas card. It was quite well received. The best to date actually! I wasn’t even going to attempt cards with having a new wee one in the house. All I wanted was one picture of the kids around the newly decorated tree. I didn’t even care how they were dressed or that the lighting wasn’t perfect or that the baby was crying. I just wanted ONE picture of the olders looking at me and smiling. This is what I got.

Does anyone want to gift me a canvas of this?!?! Seriously, I think I need to have this hung somewhere in my house.

So let this encourage you that sometimes the “real” ones aren’t all that bad. Perfection may be in reality

Wright Family

I went into this session thinking, alright one kid, this will be easy! Well, this one kid has enough personality, spunk and energy for multiple kids I LOVE how these pictures turned out. This family knows how to enjoy one another, laugh together and well they just plain look awesome in pictures. Here’s a little preview.

Barrett Family

I met this family a year ago and was super excited when Anna sent me a message wanting some family photo’s. If you know Anna, she just screams personality. She is so energetic, full of life. You know the kind of person you want at every party. She is also super compassionate and smart. She’s the person you want praying for you because you know she will. I have been both the recipient of having her make me laugh and having her care for my soul. I enjoyed getting to know this family last year and had a lot of fun shooting them all together this fall.

Drew is about to graduate high school. Exciting times!
Daniel is not to far behind Drew. I just loved these guys’ personalities. So fun.
Miya kept me on my toes I had to work quite hard to get a smile. But after a little bit of running together I got one. And it was well worth it Even if we did have to get it in motion!

II know this is a lot of pictures here but I just love this progression and it really gives you a feel of Kevin & Anna’s personalities. Thank you Barrett family for giving me the privilege of capturing you all together!!
